GESTIÓN ARTÍSTICA CULTURAL A TRAVÉS DE LA IMPLEMENTACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA “ESCUELA DE VIOLÍN” (MÉTODO SUZUKI)

Abstract

This research study has the purpose of demonstrating the need of creating and implementing a Suzuki Institute in Guayaquil for the formal musical education of children from 3 years of age. This initiative arose from the lack of an offer of a musical education for children this age, and from the need of demonstrating that a musical education at an early stage is essential in the educational process of a child. The study describes the benefits that this learning undertakes. These benefits are supported by previous scientific research done with neuroimaging techniques. Strengthened skills, better performance in visual-motor and auditory-motor activities, higher performance in logic reasoning, working memory, and positive effects in the brain structure of the children are some of the positive results that this learning produces. The methodology used an exploratory type of investigation to study the feasibility of implementing and creating the institute. The study defined the parameters of the educational model to be used and proposed a methodology that hadn’t been used in the city before. The results of the investigation were obtained from the data collected through a survey, interview and through observation. These results showed that the survey respondents are aware of the benefits that learning an instrument from an early stage entails and their desire of having their children being part of this philosophy. This drives us to the conclusion that the implementation of a Suzuki Institute is in fact needed to embrace children from 3 years of age to guide them to the path of becoming not only good musicians, but also good citizens and noble human beings.
