Abstract

The general Surgery service of the Hospital Luis Vernaza Hospital de la junta de beneficencia de Guayaquil, the herniorrhaphy is the most frequent type of surgery in male patients in elective and emergency surgeries, in this institution there have been no studies and statistics that demonstrate what are the infectious complications of the surgical site associated with diabetes in male patients who undergo this intervention leaving a need to perform a study of Review, comparison and exposure of the aforementioned data. The infections of the surgical wounds continue to represent a serious problem in the health area because they consume a great part of the materials and human resources destined for their assistance. In this way, it will be possible to have important data that can influence the and postsurgical treatment of diabetic patients who are subjected to herniorrhaphy. The absence of research on the subject matter in the Luis Vernaza of the Guayaquil charitable board, make this research necessary, to provide research data to the country, to establish a better post-surgical management of diabetic patients, to know the prevalence of infection of the surgical site. General objective.-To determine the prevalence of infection of the surgical site in male diabetic patients subjected to herniorrhaphy in the surgery service of the hospital Luis Vernaza, year 2016 – 2017. materials and methods.-It is an investigation of type nonexperimental, causal correlational, transverse, and it will proceed to the use of various methods: empirical, inductive-deductive, descriptive, observational, quantitative and statistical according to the statistic of the literature carried out in a sample of 77 male patients of the service of General surgery of the Hospital Luis Vernaza. Various research instruments will be used as a post surgical evaluation sheet, interview and survey.
